Birth Certificates in DC

| My son was born at Sibley Hospital 4 months ago. We have yet to receive his birth certificate! We mailed the check to vital statistics like 2 months ago. Has anyone else had this experience? Is vital statistics helpful when you call them? |

| I received mine within a couple of days. You should call to see if they received your request. |

| We received ours in a couple of days as well (also gave birth at Sibley). |

| We never received them in Maryland. You have to specifically order copies of the birth certificate through vital records (or go pick it up.) |

| We forgot to send in the information, but we were able to get a birth certificate from DC immediately by going to the records department. |

| Sibley took forever to send our stuff to Vital Records. Once they did it was easiest and very fast to go in person to get the certificate. |

| I automatically assumed what I always do: the only part of the DC government that works efficiently and consistently is their ticketing and booting function. Thus, I went in person and got the certificate. I delivered at Georgetown, and they were pretty efficient at forwarding the right materials to Vital Records. |

| Where is the office in DC to go and get them immediately? I have 2 kids that I delivered at Gtown and never rallied to get the birth certif. Thanks in advance for the address. |

Just went through this for my 6 month old. I filled out the form on the web site, got a money order from the post office and mailed it from Potomac. I kid you not, I got the certificates 2 days later!
You can write a personal check if your address is on the check, but I didn't want to take the rist. I just the money order from the post office -- easy. |

I would use this site instead. The others were confusing, at least to me.
