(Amending Article IV, Section 40 of the Maryland Constitution) Requires judges of the Orphans’ Court for Baltimore County to be admitted to practice law in this State and to be a member in good standing of the Maryland Bar. Now I've got to wonder, had there been a problem with non-lawyers being judges, or anything of that nature? Are non-lawyers still free to serve as Orphans' Court judges in other Maryland counties? |
I'm glad to know that non-lawyers can still go to Frederick and the Eastern Shore and continue to be Orphans' Court judges.
Had this been a problem with any particular judge or was this a, "hey guys, maybe we should make sure the judges are actual lawyers these days?" |
