FYI:
Tonight the Superintendent will propose revising school board policy governing school boundary changes You all may be interested to know that at tonight's meeting, the Superintendent is presenting a proposed revision to Policy 30-2.2, which governs school boundary changes. In contrast to the message they have been pedaling to the PTAs this week, the proposed revisions remove any requirement that the Superintendent work with affected communities to evaluate boundary change options. Here are copies of the old and proposed policy: Old: http://www.apsva.us/cms/lib2/VA01000586/Centricity/Shared/School%20Board%20Policies/30-GenAdmin/30-2.2-boundaries.pdf New: http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/arlington/Board.nsf/files/8YQLEE562ECF/$file/F-1%20Draft%20Revision%20Boundary%20Policy.pdf |

From the new doc:
"the Superintendent shall recommend to the School Board the process for consideration of boundary changes. The recommendation shall include the proposed schedule for the boundary change process, identification of the schools and communities to be affected, and an outline of the process to include affected schools and communities in the consideration of boundary changes" Does that not say that the superintendent will consult with the affected communities? |
