| Just excited (not about the performance or grades per se but it will just be the first time for us so just waiting). My nephew who is 3rd grader at a different school just got his, so I was just wondering. |
| Every school district has its own reporting timeline. Call your child's teacher or school office and ask. Or go to the school system's web page. |
| Sorry I should have mentioned..this is FCPS. Just wondering if any other kindergarteners in FCPS got their report cards. I kind of thought it was too early for an entire quarter to end so soon, or am I wrong? |
| The school district website should have this info. At our FCPS, kindergarteners weren't graded during the 1st quarter, however the teacher went over progress at the conference. |
|
I'm not sure it's uniform across FCPS or not.
At our elementary school in FCPS, the first grading period ends Nov 2. |

You should be having a conference scheduled at the end of the first grading period (usually the conferences are during the days that the school is being used for elections -- that's the "fall break"). For kindergarten in FCPS, I believe the standard is that there is no "report card" for the first grading period. There will be report cards for all other quarters. The conference IS the report card, if you will, and the teacher will probably tell you how your child scored on the DRA-WA test and generally how s/he is doing. Sometimes they send out an "interim report" in the middle of a quarter just to tell you if there are any issues (i.e. talks too much, needs to work on holding the scissors, etc.).
You can just email the teacher and she can send you a quick note about how things are going. And you can ask about the conference schedule if they haven't already put that info. out. |
| kindergarten mom here. our teacher told us that kindergarteners won't get the new progress reports until the 2nd quarter - end of January. It has something to do with the new FCPS elementary progress reports. |
This isn't "new" (I don't think)... it's always been this way with kindergarteners b/c the teachers are spending a good portion of the first quarter assessing them. The teachers don't really have any objective basis for evaluating them other than the assessments. The teachers haven't really moved into "teaching" them much during the first quarter. |
| FCPS kindergarten has first real report card end of 2nd qtr. parent-teacher conferences are Nov 5-6. |

"talks too much" - MIL's issue for her entire life. |
