| is it true that body odor is contagious? |
is this a joke? Do you know the meaning of contagious? No, it is not true. Maybe you mean hereditary? Could be. |
sorry but its a serious question... i just heard from a friend that if someone wears a shirt that belongs to a person who have a body odor then there is a possibility that she could get it.. is that for real? |
| Yes. If she doesn't wash the shirt first. |

Body odor is caused by the bacteria that thrive in the dark warm damp places - like your armpits (and mouth bad breath) - not the actual perspiration itself. You also have very active glands in that region so sweating/bacteria tend to be a little more obvious, than say, your palms They "smell" when you sweat because your sweat (perspiration is made up of water, saline, electrolytes, hormones, etc.) is providing them nutrients for the bacteria to thrive...and therefore smell.
So, yes, you can spread the bacteria (like anything else). Now whether you spread enough bacteria and whether that bacteria is able to thrive on the next person maybe variable. |
| If you are wondering whether cooties is contagious by t-shirt sharing, the answer is a clear yes. |
