Any preschool openings for this year left?

| We are three weeks into a preschool that is not working for my son. (Briefly, has social delays, fine motor delays) We enrolled him in a therapeutic program, and his 'needs' are very different from other kids'. (Other kids have more anxiety/emotional needs that manifest in tantrums, aggression) Our son is the opposite--internalizes his emotions. If anyone has any leads on any preschools/schools that might still have an opening for THIS school year, please post. Thanks. |

| You might want to look into the Jenny Waelder Hall Center for Children. They have a specialized preschool for children with social delays. Our son, who is very bright but has difficulty interacting with peers, attended and had a great experience there. |

What location? There's a great daycare/preschool near Montgomery Mall that has openings - Rock Spring Children's Center.

| Thanks for the information on preschools. What kinds of needs do the kids at Jenny Waelder Hall present? Not meaning to offend anyone, but my son is not responding well to kids who cannot express their emotions verbally--and might instead do so physically or through outbursts/tantrums. Thanks for all the info. |

| Easter Seals in Columbia Heights has a pre-K class but you have to be a DC resident. |

| I recomend oneness family school... they have a little stars program for preschoolers .. my daughter goes there and i think it is a wonderful enviroment, i dont know if it fits ur needs or not. |

| I believe St. Columba's has openings and can accommodate most needs. |

I neglected to mention that Bridges PCS is A) designed specifically to accommodate children with special needs and B) is a public charter school. Therefore, if you're a DC resident you owe it to yourself to check it out. Your taxes are already paying for it, you should see if it it's a good fit for your pre-school special needs child. (This is not a regular DCPS school. Bridges PCS is public charter school.) |
