How do you control it?
Do you control it when the dog licks the kids' mouths? Does it make the kids sick? |
| I don't control it. The kids love it. Dogs' mouths are cleaner than human mouths. Why do you worry about this? |
| I don't. Im not going to argue that dogs are clean, but there are a lot of studies that show that kids that grow up with dogs are healthier overall. It is because some dirt exposure is actually good for them. |
We have a dog who loves to lick and kids who love it also. I don't doubt your statement about dogs' mouths being cleaner, but what's your support for that? |
| My dog licks mouths and I noticed that not all kids love it. I don't think we can stop the licking altogether, but we try to redirect it toward feet or hands. It's not easy. |
|
I just try not to think about it, stop it when it's happening in front of me, and wish my 3 year old would stop kissing the damn dog on the lips. Ick.
But whatever, they both love it, so live and let live. |
No, not all of them do. Oh my goodness, you people are unbelievable. |
| How can dogs have cleaner mouths, when they lick their butts? |
|
OP, I don't allow my dog to lick other people's kids out of plain old respect.
NO MOUTH IS CLEAN! Cleaner than human mouth...perhaps, but still not clean. Children get parasites from dogs licking their faces. DOGS do carry parasites in their mouths. |
| So gross. |
| My dog's way of greeting my son is to lick him on his face. I stop it when I can but that's not every time. However, I don't worry about it because I can't imagine a little dog saliva is going to hurt him, or me for that matter. I've grown up with animals all my life and had them lick me and I'm just fine. |
| Dogs licking peoples' faces is a sign of submission, so that's actually a good thing. |
| Great for the complexion, actually |
I have never known a dog that has not, at some point in its life, eaten shit or dead things. I know very few people who do this. |
Let me clarify- by dead I mean "rotting in the woods or gutter." |
