African American opposition to gay marriage

How can this community judge others when they have the lowest standards of living, highest crime, lowest education attainment, AIDS, most of their kids grow up without a father figure, etc. All around they are a community in shambles and on the downside. Yet they go to church every Sunday and they have the gall to be so against gay marriage. Why don't they fix their own communities that are basically warzones. Looks like they will vote down Maryland's marriage amendment.

Woahhhhhhhhhhh. Someone's doing some pot-stiring. It's almost like if you had a megaphone and could say one thing it would be:

WAKE THE FUCK UP!

I love this. OP is condemning an entire race based on sound bites and generalizations for the values of a portion of the group. Talk about racial profiling.

OP, you should take your own advice. How can you judge a community with such a completely lack of education and research? I live and work in PG County (but am not African American) and can tell you that while the religiously active black churches are significantly vocal about the issue, even within the churches they are not unanimous and outside those churches, the African American community is not nearly so homogeneous a population as you paint. LIkewise those issues that you throw out are very 1960's stereotypes and not an accurate description of the majority of African Americans any longer.

I think OP's a troll. How can you tell one community not to judge another when you're throwing around the stereotypes pretty viciously? Self reflection much?

Seriously, OP, are you bored today or something? Decided you needed to rile the DCUMers up for your entertainment?

So let me get this right. Their error is that they have not yet EARNED the privilege of discriminating against others.

You on the other hand are an honest taxpayer so you get to crap on gay people.

Way ti take a decent issue (black support for gays) and turn it into a showcase for your doucheyness)

I agree with OP that it will be a shame if gay marriage is voted down. But I have to give this feedback: The way OP speaks of African-Americans sounds at best simplistic and at worst racist. I don't mean to make any accusations, merely to say that I don't think the way this was stated is at all suited for convincing African-American readers of your point of view.

I'm not AA, in case that's not clear. I am only saying how I would feel if you were discussing some group to which I belong.

Don't feed the TROLL.

I'm sorry to say, but both segments are total useful idiots to the president and Democratic party. It's pretty obvious and sad.

Third rail.

Are you serious?

Please stop generalizing to "they". I am "they." I live in Potomac, am solidly married, extremely educated, upper middle class, no gangs, drugs, alcohol, or aids, no guns. I don't to to church and I don't care who marries whom, as long as they are impacting my life. Is your race largely all the same? If not, neither is mine.

pp...that's "go to church."

New concept for OP: African American LGBTQI folks.
