Watkins Mill is a great school; the only people who speak badly of it are people who do not have children there. The school has an excellent principal and devoted teachers. There is an IB program and all students have the option of taking individual pre-IB or IB classes, or going for the full IB diploma. There is also a variety of AP classes and several academic Academies which students can participate in (Finance and Engineering, to name two).

No, it's not Wootton or BCC or QO, but the demographics of the students at WM aren't the same as the kids who attend those other schools, either, so you really can't compare them equally. Many of the kids who attend WMHS come from families who are stuggling to get by. Still, the school does all they can to support all the students and help them achieve.

We are house hunting in the Gaithersburg/North Potomac/Darnestown area and folks will usually tell you that Qunice Orchard HS is the most sought after of the high schools in that area. Nest Northwest HS and lastly Gaithersburg HS. It definitely reflects in the housing prices!!

You will find that the further west you go the higher the housing prices. Go east and the prices drop.
