Physics and chem?
Where are you located? I have a phd in physics and tutored throughout grad school. I will provide my email if it sounds like you are near enough to make it work. Is this for your child?
You could ask your DC's school.
My DCs did SAT subject test tutoring at PrepMatters and it was great. Most kids will take the subject test for each AP exam they take, so the subject test tutoring covers both.
Does PrepMatters "teach to the test" or actually work to what the child needs, what is difficult?
The DCs take the actual SAT subject test (not recorded and offered for free) at PrepMatters. Then, based on their score, they tutor the child. If the DC says they are also taking the AP exam, PrepMatters also tutors for that test during the session identifying what areas are emphasized on the AP exam outside of the scope of the SAT and which aren’t. If I remember correctly I think the AP exams are easier then the SAT tests. Also, there is a lot written about which exam to take first.
Thanks - this is helpful. I actually am not so worried about the AP or subject tests. I guess my question is more: is PrepMatters a generally good resource for tutoring a DC when she is having trouble with a particular concept? Obviously, the teacher is the first place to start, but can PrepMatters (or other such places) customize to this sort of issue. My fear is that they are all test-driven.
I don't know. I'd call and ask.
FYI I called Prepmatters and their people who can do chemistry and physics tutoring are all booked up right now.
