| I am helping to host a bridal shower for about 20 people. I am planning on serving prosecco mimosas. how many bottles of prosecco/fresh orange juice do you think I should buy? What would be an easy non-alcoholic pre-made beverage to serve? iced-tea? lemonade? The shower is at 2 pm. |

Why not buy something like the juices they have at Trader Joe's (they come in tall, slightly fancy glass bottles) and offer them with or without the prosecco? I think there's an OJ one, a pomegranate one that's good, and some lemonade varieties.
How many bottles depends on how much you expect the people to drink. In my circle I'd buy a bottle for every two people at a minimum, so at least ten. Typically people drink less of sparkling wine drinks than other wine because unlike red and white wine glasses, champagne glasses have remained about the same size. Of course, I serve mimosas with a touch of oj and mostly sparkling wine - about like an orangina. You can reduce the amount of alcohol by serving them half oj half wine, but I think that's too sweet. |
| For 20 people I would get enough to make 2 gallons (that would be plenty for everyone to have 2 6oz glasses with about a pint left over) at 2:1 ratio of Prosecco to OJ that would be 10 3/4 cups of Prosecco to 5 1/4 cups of OJ. As for non-alcoholic I would offer both regular and decaffienated teas (preferably flavored) |

Every crowd's different, but I'd be surprised if you need 10 bottles of prosecco. 5 or 6 ought to do you just fine, with about 3 gallons of orange juice. (You won't need that much for the mimosas, but non-drinkers like fresh orange juice too.). You could also have fresh grapefruit juice on hand for the nondrinkers or to mix things up.
(If your crowd is hard-drinking enough to exhaust 6 bottles of prosecco, then you need more than mimosas. Have some vodka or gin on hand.) Lemonade's also nice, or sparkling apple or pear cider. (They have it at Ikea.) |
| I am making mimosas for 50 people and would like to make some o it ahead. what ratio of orange juice to champaue? |
| For the non-drinkers, those sparkly juices and/or flavored pellegrino and a selection of la croix. |
