Williamsburg ES as a Grade 4-5 only building

Does anyone know about some “grassroots” effort to convert the new Williamsburg ES building into a Grade 4-5 only building? The Jamestown PTA e-mail last night mentions this as some new idea. What I can’t tell is whether that’s someone on the PTA inflating the interest in their own idea or if it’s for real.

I also cannot imagine it gaining any traction. But just curious if anyone has heard about this.

I'm an administrator in APS, if this is something being considered it has not been shared with us at all.

It's an idea coming from Jamestown. A Jamestown PTA parent raised it at the Thursday boundary process meeting and wants APS to consider it.

what's the reasoning behind this?

this has been on the table for a while--was part of the discussion of the selection of these sites prior to the bond request. Means there wouldn't have to be redistricting (much) -- younger kids would stay at Jamestown and older kids would go to the new school, instead of half the kids (K-5) going to one school and half going to the other.

It seems like APS isn't interested or just doesn't know about this idea at all.

That would be more like Falls Church City schools.
