Is This Normal (tmi)

Anonymous
I am about 7 weeks pregnant and do not go to the doctor until 9/23. I have had light brown to almost brownish pink milky discharge. Has anyone else had this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? I have called the dr and they said to call them back if I start to pass anything red or start to bleed heavily. I am tired and my boobs feel a little sore, not as swollen as they were but I think I may have been bloated. I am concerned but don't want to make myself crazy over this.

I know so many of these symptoms are normal but I am hoping someone else had had brownish milky discharge and that it means nothing. Thanks for helping me feel better, it really means alot right now.

Yes, I had that same thing at the beginning of this pregnancy. Mine actually progressed into more of an "old blood" flow for a day or two, but that was all. They found a subchorionic hemmorhage when they did my first ultrasound, but it never caused any issues and went away. (I'm 35 weeks now.) It could also just be implantation bleeding.

If your flow gets worse and you're really worried, ask your dr to do a beta HCG test -- it's two blood draws taken a few days apart that measures whether your HCG levels are increasing appropriately.

Good luck1

I had soemthing similar with both pg's - it's probably implantation bleeding. DD is 2.5 and I am 17wks with #2.

I had the same for about a week to 10 days, starting at 6 weeks. My doctor did send me in immediately for an ultrasound, but they found no cause for concern - we even saw the heartbeat then. I'm now 9 weeks, had my first scheduled ultrasound late last week and all is still well (saw and heard the heartbeat plus arms and legs moving!).

Yes, I had that too. I thought I was getting my period...but then it stopped. Probably implanation bleeding. I also had similar spotting around the time of my period for the entire first trimester until week 13. I had multiple ultrasounds and baby was fine. docs could never explain what caused the spotting other than placenta attaching and implantation bleeding. It was always worse whenever I took a BM (yes, TMI). Baby is still doing fine, and I am going into my 3rd trimester! Hang in there...unless it gets really heavy/clotty, you are probably OK.

I started bleeding before my first doctor appointment also (started out bright red and then became brownish). I was completely freaked out, and the doctor told me to stay off my feet for a day or two and to call back if the bleeding increased. I still don't know for sure what caused it, but my baby is now 7 weeks old! So, while bleeding can be a sign of something serious, it can also turn out to be nothing at all. Call your doctor to find out what s/he recommends you do at this point. Best of luck to you!
