Mohammed at New Concept Auto Repair. It's on 5th NE, at Rhode Island Ave. Within walking distance of the RI Ave metro on the red line.

He will not hold your hand and explain every step to you, but he is GOOD. He understands Volvos inside and out, and has lots of ingenious little fixes for persistent/ common Volvo problems. (The 90s Volvos were prone to things like a certain electrical problem in the AC, odometer and other gauges crapping out, etc.) The dealer usually wants to charge several hundred dollars for these little things, but Mohammed has workarounds. He frequently makes a little tweak on our car and charges us nothing. Super honest, pretty fast, and totally expert. Don't be put off by the appearance/ setting of the place. You're there to get your car fixed, not to get a mani/pedi.

Honestly can't recommend him highly enough.

Second this. They are the best and most knowledgable when it comes to later model volvos.

I'll third Bethesda Imports. And I'm always happy with the amount of the bill (compared to what dealers charge, it always comes in much less).

I've been taking geriatric Volvos to and have bought one used one from Tom Berlin at Wrenchmasters out in Rockville. He's really good. And they'll give you a lift to Rockville metro.

+1

I changed a small light bulb on my Volvo recently. I took my car to Martens for warranty work and asked for a quote on the lightbulb. They wanted $38. Bethesda Imports charged me $8. I love those guys. I find them to be worth every penny. 8)

Scott's Specialties in Rockville. Excellent mechanic and they give you a discount based on the labor from your previous service.
