DD gets really frustrated already when she can't communicate her needs, and she's only 10 months. I definitely think that baby sign language will be good for her. I had a book and we do "More" "Milk" and "All Done". She can sign back Milk and she definitely knows what the other two mean when we do it.
I'm tempted to take her to one of Arlington's signing classes, but it's expensive. I've also considered getting a DVD, but I don't want her to watch TV. We could continue doing the stuff I learn from the books, but I feel like she'll pick up so much more if we do more. ANYWAY...have you done a baby sign class? Did you like it? Worth the money? How much did your child learn? |
| I just signed up for a class at Tiny Fingers in Alexandria. It is $75 though which I think is expensive. You can get books. The one recommended to me is called Baby signs and it is by Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn. My sister inlaw who is a speech therapist recommended the book. She said it is simple and explains the rationale etc very well. |
Don't bother spending money on products and classes. Make up your own signs and use them--it'll be easier to remember AND it'll be free. Your 10 month old won't know the difference

| Yep - paid my $$$ and went on a weekend, not very productive - sang and signed "you are my sunshine" about 15 times - I tried signing with my baby but he just laughed - now, at just over 12 months, he is babbling and trying to talk a lot! |
