Washington Post Weddings article

Anyone see the Washington Post weddings article in the style section for today? They always do a profile of a couple, their courtship and wedding. This week's detailed a couple that met late in life--she was 46, he 49. They went to see about fertility treatments, were told it was not worth the effort, and then got pregnant naturally. She will be 47 when she delivers. I read this just as I've been telling myself that there's no reason I should think I'm better than the statistics and that I need to prepare myself for a poor outcome--I'm starting IVF in Oct. This kind of thing is both wonderful and also dangerous to my expectations.

IF she is telling the truth. Maybe she is. But could have used donor egg(?)

How do we know the woman featured in the Post and the woman who posted here are the same person? Interesting story.

I don't think they are. Besides one saying it was natural and one saying it was NCIVF, the timing of when they became pregnant is different.

Women *do* get pregnant naturally at that age, it's just uncommon. Amish and other families who don't use birth control often have cabooses.

True but those women also tend to have a large number of children overall, which has the effect of preserving fertility.
