Can you recommend an inexpensive Caribbean vacation (<$3000)?

Looking to go away with a toddler and a preschooler in January or February for 4 nights. Would prefer a direct flight but a quick stopover in Fl won't be too bad. We don't need anything fancy - just clean rooms, a nice pool and beaches. Our toddler can still be a lap child so we would like to spend less than $3k for airfare for 3 (2 adults and one 3 year old) and 4 nights of hotel. Does not need to be all inclusive.

Can you recommend some inexpensive Caribbean resorts with easy transportation from DC?

Check out BJs/Costco type places. They often have deals.

We did a similar trip with similar age kids to the Sandos Playcar in Mexico. The total cost (it's an all inclusive) was about $3K if I remember correctly. You can fly nonstop to Cancun pretty easily. It's not super fancy but was very nice and relaxing. Check the state of the beach, though. The first time we went the beach was severely eroded but when we went back the following year they had done a lot of work to it and it was perfect.

Check out familygetaway.com, they have some good deals now to Puerto Rico and DR.

I have recommended Franklyn D Resort in past and continue to do so. There are direct flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica and resort isn't fancy/5tar but it's beatiful, small, not expensive, and every room comes with nanny.

Check out trips to Bermuda. It is much farther north than the rest of the Caribbean and flights from DC are just an hour and a half non-stop.

It will not be warm in Bermuda in January or February. Too far north.

Frankiyn D is out of this price range during high season. It looks great.

Are you including airfare? If so, for how many? Airfare is not inexpensive.

Try www.cheapcaribbean.com

Package deals (flights + hotel) are cheaper in summer but they might have something.

As far as good rates for packges, I have seen good ones for Puerto Rico, Grand Bahama, and Cancun/Playa del Carmen or Cozumel.

I second checking out Costco if you're a member--we went to Puerto Rico on a Costco trip this summer and it was fantastic. I was a doubter, but a friend recommended going that route and we were impressed.
