Fun ideas for a three year old birthday party

Anonymous
My DC is turning three in a few weeks. I am looking for some fun things to do at the party. We are having about 6 kids and are doing the party in our house/back yard. I am thinking about having a PiƱata, maybe a pin the tail game. Any other suggestions. Also looking for unique favors.

Thanks for the ideas!

You could always have a moonbounce going. When my son turned 3 last year we bought a moonbounce at Toys R Us ($150) for his party and the kids loved it! Some of them would have stayed in it the whole time if we'd let them. We also did the pinata and we had a sandbox in the backyard, too.

Buying a moonbounce is cheaper than renting one and you get to keep it! It folds up nicely and my son loves to jump on it with his friend year-round. It's great exercise and allows them to entertain themselves. Although it's smaller than a rented one (max of 3 kids at at time according to the instructions), we've never had that be an issue.

A moonbounce is a good idea. If you live in Arlington, check out the county Web site/TEAM program that rents/sets up moonbounces for parties. It's a way for teens to earn money and the rental cost is very affordable.

I had about six kids at my house for my DD's third birthday in April and it was just like a big playdate or playgroup. We brought out all the toys and just let them run around. They had lots of fun! We would need more entertainment, but they really don't. Friends and cake is all they want for a birthday at that age.

you could play freeze dance
have helium balloons for each child
decorate cupcakes or have a sundae bar

We are ordering cookie cutters on-line shaped like all different types of trucks (fire trucks, diggers, tow-trucks, dump trucks, etc.) and baking lots of cookies beforehand. The kids will decorate the cookies at the party. We are also having a table with play-doh, stickers and other fun crafty things. The party is 2 hours long and that should be plenty to keep them busy as they will also just play. The favors will be two new cookie cutters for each kid to take home, some play-doh, truck stickers, and a match-box car. The cookie-cutters are about $1.50 each and they have every animal, vehicle, etc. imaginable. I am making his cake and putting some mini diggers and dump trucks on it with browniw crumbs for dirt
