Looking for suggestions for an "adult" bar in Bethesda. By adult I mean a place void of drunk college students. Can be part of a restaurant.

Redwood Bar & Restaurant (downtown Bethesda.)
Cesco (Woodmont Ave.) It is also a restaurant. |
| Mon Ami Gabi or Cafe Deluxe. American Tap Room is also good, but sometimes can have an early 20's bar scene. |
| I like the food at Blacks Bar & Kitchen, and their bar got a mention in the Washingtonian's "Best Bars." |
| Cesco/CO2 |
| Second the recommendation for Black's. |

Stay away. Go to DC somewhere. Bethesda is depressing for adult bars. redwood at 8:00 on a Saturday is like an assisted living facility. DW and I live in the area. We are between 35-45. About every fifth week we get amnesia, and we go to Bethesda thinking we'll find good bars, and good food, then we remember - oh yeah, it's BETHESDA.
That said, love the area for many other reasons, which is why we live out here. |
| We had a great time sitting at the bar at Mussel Bar recently on a Saturday night. |
| Food Wine & Co. on Wisconsin Avenue (near the movie theater). Good food, and lots of over 35 crowd. |
| 8pm on a Saturday isn't a great bar time ANYWHERE. |
+1 With an exception: Hank Dietle's. Great place. Can't guarantee you won't run into college students, though. But it's not a youngsters' bar--it's a real cross-section of Bethesdan humanity. |
+2 - Hank's is great. Montgomery County's oldest bar - one of a kind! |
Agree with this. But also the recommendation for Mussel Bar. |
| Tia Quetas roof top bar is fun and their sangria is very good too! |
| Their food is the pits (Imo) but AGREE that it is good for sangrias/atmosphere! |
