Birthday dinner with husband DC...Oya v. Bibiana v. Blue Duck Tavern?

Any thoughts on those places? Want some good food and an opportunity (rare) to get out sans kidlets. Please help...we have been caged for so long I don't know where to pick. Looking for good food and good, lively atmosphere. It will be a Wednesday night.

Oya is better for a girl's night out... or they have an awesome $20 lunch deal. I like BDT and Bibiana. Both are date-night appropriate and yum food. You can't miss with either.

I liked Bibiana. Great service, but I thought that the apps were MUCH better than the entrees.

I agree about Bibiana apps. vs. entrees. Making a meal of the apps wouldn't be a bad idea.

Bibiana has kind of a young hip vibe if that's your thing. BDT is not "old," but much more adult/age-neutral.

Don't know Oya. Did have a very nice dinner at Proof the other night.

Re-reading your OP, I don't know that BDT qualifies as "lively atmosphere." You might be happier w/Bibiana.

Oyamel for sure. BDT is more romantic than lively. Bibiana is just ok and the atmosphere is cold.

If you’re in the mood for great Italian apps, Bibiana is the place to be. If you’re in the mood for simple, wholesome, home-style cooking, Blue Duck Tavern creates it. But, your in the mood for a place with good food and a lively atmosphere to celebrate a rare special occasion. Oya is the type of establishment that your husband will walk into and say, “Wow! It’s my birthday”. It’s special, romantic and the food is amazing. Bibiana is ok, but their menu only gets half the job done and Blue Duck Tavern…well, you might as well stay at home. Oya has a $35 pre-fixe menu and delicious cocktails. I love Oya and your husband will too.

We did not like Bibiana - the food was just OK, the atmosphere OK and it was overpriced.

Oyamel is nice and has good food - good atmosphere for a celebration.

We have never been to Blue Duck Tavern.

We have also liked Central, Black Salt (recently). Have fun!
