sale by owner house- what do you think?

| Just wondering what is the right way of approaching the owner of a house that is listed "for sale by owner", but doesnt really have a contact info. I just drove by the house and there was no sale sign either. Was so tempted to knock on the door and ask, but want sure if that is appropriate. The community is what we have been eying for some time to see if anythink comes up. How do you suggest we get in touch with the owner? |

| tax records? if it's in VA (or at least in Arlington), they should be public. I would knock on the door or leave a note. |

Leave a note. No contact info on the sign? That does not sound like it will be a fun transaction.

| I would not feel comfortable buying a house that is for sale by owner. It seems those homeowners are often unrealistic in their homes worth and likely hard to deal with the transaction. |
