I thought this was a very well done analysis of the people who do not pay taxes, and why. http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/UploadedPDF/1001547-Why-No-Income-Tax.pdf
Obviously this is much more complicated a group than Romney described. But rather than throw out judgments, I wanted to put the data in front of the group so that you can make your own conclusions. It is also interesting to recall the tax policies that created this situation. The report does not do that, but if you have been around for a while you probably remember how these were promoted. |
47% of Americans don't pay INCOME taxes.
Largely because George W. Bush took them off the rolls. |
100% of Americans should not pay income taxes.
|
Yes, I think the report makes that clear. |
Federal income taxes. |
I didn't have to read the report to know this. |
That's lovely. Remind me why you are posting? We already agree that you are super intelligent, whoever you are. |
And they are still off after almost four years. |
PP, they are still off because their incomes are so low that they don't qualify to pay taxes. Many folks who don't pay taxes cycle off when their incomes increase. Reagan started this back in the day - Ronald Reagan. |
I believe that we wouldn't have any of these issues if we didn't have an income tax but a consumption tax. |
Okay, 47% pay no income tax. What do you republicans want to do about it? |
less funding for schools no more electricity to traffic lights in your area increased prison sentencing no more legal aid no more social security medicaid will cover less fines based on income, the less you earn the higher the fine no more wic, that can be replaced with an adoption plan hospitals will not have to treat uninsured people |
