Cramping at 14 weeks

Anonymous
I am 14 weeks tomorrow and thus far have a relatively uneventful pregnancy. Today, however, I have been noticing intermittent cramping, like light menstrual cramps. I am wondering if I should worry? I am not bleeding or having any other symptoms other than I feel very dehydrated, and I very well may be as I have been busy at work and not watching my water intake. Could this cause cramping? Should I call the doc?

I had the same thing around 14-15 weeks. It was just growing pains as my uterus expanded. If you're really concerned, definitely call your OB. Mild crampiness is normal throughout pregnancy. Good luck!

My OB is always remninding me to keep up the water intake. Cramping is a sign of dehydration. You should be drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day.

I wouldn't worry too much; from my experience cramping is very common, depending on how sensitive you are.

I have been cramping throughout my entire pregnancy, from week 7 to week 26. I had the worst menstrual-like cramps around weeks 8-10 and again 14-15, when the uterus really started to expand. My doctor said it's very common, especially if it's your first child, since all your internal organs are getting pushed and moved all over the place. The doc said that your bowel can move up to 12 inches! The round ligament pain is/was the worst.

Just drink lots of water, rest on your side, and call your OB if you start experiencing spotting or bleeding. Otherwise, you're probably fine. I called my doc time and time again during the first and second trimester for cramps, but everything has been just fine. Guess I am one of the sensitive ones who feels every little thing.

I've had cramping too and when I brought it up with my doctors they say it's normal growing pains. But check with your doctor just to be sure.
