2E in DCPS-Just beginning this process and need guidance

DS was recently diagnosed as 2E. We're getting and IEP at his NW school but I really do not have high hopes for him staying in DCPS. We've been advised by medical professionals that we should start looking for other school options. There seem to be very few options in the area that focus on GT/LD. We've looked at Lab school in the past, but it seemed to focus more on the LD rather that the strengths of the children. So what do families do? Homeschool?
The very best model I've found is the Lang School in NYC. It costs a small fortune and we'd have to move and get new jobs w/ enough $$ and live in the city. Please share anything you can....it's all rather bleak at this point. |
