Do you do any activities with your child's class other than individual play dates?

Dd just started kindergarten immersion. We are new to the area, I was thinking of inviting the class to an outdoor park to get to know one another. What have you done to meet new families and make friends for your child? I am an introvert so I am not fond of organizing and interacting on a large scale but I do want to find a friend/family for Dd.

What other suggestions can you experienced moms offer--or have done?

Birthday parties!

No. I just let these things happen organically, and they always do.

We are in a parochial school so we do everything together - sports, extracurricular things (swim lessons, dance classes, etc.) scouts, church activities, and of course all things school related like family activities and parent class socials. It's much easier since we have a smaller group with a something (the church) that automatically draws us together.

We started immersion also and dc already has made good friends based on conversations though we havent met parents yet. One challenge I see is that families from immersion are from different parts of the county.

Yeah, this. Also, dance, gymnastics, neighborhood pool, etc. daisies should be starting soon and that is another opportunity for connection. If I only had one kid, I might try to show up to a playdates. But most people I know have more than one and wouldn't go. Oh, and join PTA and get active.
