So as I'm buying clothes in anticipation of the big day, I'm wondering if I really do need to have a bunch of two-piece outfits for the first week or so to avoid irritating the umbilical cord stump. I'd prefer to just buy one piece sleepers, but if I need to also buy two-piece outfits, I will...
any advice? |
Onsies worked fine for us. We did a t-shirt and diaper for a few days. Then, at our first pedi appt, she said it was fine to do onesies, so we switched soon after.
Honestly though, the t-shirt and diaper thing worked well for a while. We were swaddling anyway, so DB's bottom half was warm. Plus, you're changing quite a few diapers (hopefully) so you may as well make them easy to access. ![]() |
Onies should be fine from the beginning. We brought our own onsies to the hospital for our DD when she was born. She wore the long feet/long sleeved ones (winter baby)from day one. The nurses kept commenting on how cute they were and no one mentioned it might bother her umbilical cord.
It's obviously not required as the hospital gives you shirts, but between those and my own PJ's I just felt more comfortable while still in the hospital. There are many different opinions though. |
