Wish I could figure out how to post a video here on DCUM, but I can't. At any rate, I often look at McCain these days and think he looks like Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movies. (I do feel bad about being so shallow, but since this is an anonymous forum I will fess up to it.) But I watched this brief clip of his release as a POW that Swedish television unearthed, and I think he was really good looking then:

I agree. Although as a straight man I don't consider myself an expert on male good looks, it seems to me there is a Brad Pitt look there.
Does that make Palin a Pitt bull? |
A compelling argument for sun screen, and lots of it, on your face! |
Wow, he was hot! Who would have guessed? |
Makes it truly frightening to consider our spouses at 72 doesn't it? |
Oh, don't go there! |
Unfortunately, all I have to do is look at my FIL. Thanks for bringing it up. <<shudder>> You know, if McCain had really been from Arizona he would have known to stay out of the sun. You can always tell the newcomers because they worship the sun instead of respecting it like us natives. |
5 years in SE Asia might have had something to do with it to - I doubt they were passing out the Coppertone or hats ![]() My FIL passed away in his 50's so I don't have that point of comparison - we will just have to deal when we get there! |
I don't know how seious we want to get with this, but as one who is almost there (67), I admit that neither I nor my wife looks like we did when we met of when we married. We may not be able to walk as far, see as well, or think as fast. But we can still love each other as much. I speak of emotion -- the rest is none of your business. ![]() |
PP again. I hit submit instead of preview and let a few typos through. Sorry about that. |
LOL! |
Loved this thread and especially the last post. You seem beautiful to me.
BTW, McCain absolutely was really handsome. The picture on his book is pretty stunning. |
I was a senior in college when he was released and remember how hot he was very well. I have to say that, in fact, I still think of him as a young man when I think about him in the campaign and am always surprised to see how much he has aged. I'm still in shock over the fact that Paul McCartney is not 25 anymore as well!
To me he has always been a man of substance, and I really don't blame the younger crowd that they don't see him the way I do. When Barack Obama is in his 70's YOU will still remember him as he is now too. And you will still respect him for all the things that he will have done in his long, and I'm sure, distinguished, career. Tremendous personal trials forge people that will, for the rest of their lives, be exceptional people. That's why his party concentrates on it so much, and why it probably isn't relevant to you younger people yet. But it is relevant to my age group (50 and up), because a lot of us have seen the smooth talkers fall by the wayside, while the truly heroic persevere in whatever circumstances they find themselves. I'm not labeling Barack Obama as a smooth talker though. |
And believe me, there are still a few smooth talkers who I would like to see fall by the wayside! What's taking them so long? ![]() |
I'm right there waiting with you. I could start a list right now.
