I haven't used foundation since about the early 2000s. My skin tone has always been pretty even and I never liked feeling like I was wearing a mask. Plus, I didn't like the way it would settle into the bags under my eyes.
Aside from those, I have very youthful skin for my age (40) but would like a slightly more polished look. I've heard good things about tinted moisturizer. Can anyone recommend a good brand? |
Yes, Laura Mercier is my absolute favorite. It's the only cosmetic I spend money on, and just about once a year. I'm cheap.

Estee Lauder has one that is "smart", just adjusts to your skin tone. It's called Daywear Sheer Tint Release Formula. I love it, been using it for years. I put it over my oil control moisturizer. I loathe paying a big price for tinted moisturizer only to find it's the wrong shade. I can use the Daywear most of the year. It always gives me a nice glow.
On the flip side, if you want to try a lightweight foundation, I just picked up some of the Almay Smart Shade that is similar in the technology. It has little beads in it, and only $11 vs $45. I will be using a heavier moisturizer as the weather cools so sometimes I need to stop using the sheer tint for a few while I'm trying things out. |
Tarte is the best!

I like Laura Mercier. I also have a tube from Clinque; it is ok.
I like Elta MD tinted sunblock
This is great, thanks for so much feedback so soon! -OP
i like laura mercier too. one tube lasts me about a year too.
I love Philosophy's tinted moisturizer.
Dior
I love Chantecaille's Just Skin. Laura Mercier was a bit heavy for me. OP, you may want to try one of the new BB creams. I like Bobbi Brown, so I'd probably start there.
Another vote for Laura Mercier.
Laura Mercier for me too. I use Nude and it seems to work in the summer, when I have some color from the sun, and in the winter, when I'm pale as a ghost. I also hate the feel of foundation, but I find that LM foundation is also pretty light, so I sometimes wear that in the winter.
I like Smashbox.
