| Just noticed this - so gross. In between two of my bottom front teeth the gums have detached from the teeth and they look "looser" elsewhere in my mouth. Has anyone had this happen? |
| Are you on any medications? Dehydrated? |
| Do you drink a lot of soda? Or does gum disease run in your family? |
| You should give "oil pulling" a try. Google it. |
| No medications. Not dehydrated. Just went back to work from maternity leave last week and have been drinking a lot of soda there. Could that cause it? That fast? |
| Pregnancy may have caused something to happen. |

Talk to your dentist.

You just had a baby?! That's probably the reason! Pregnancy causes all sorts of weird dental/oral problems. I went to the dentist while pregnant and my gums bled like crazy. I hardly flossed for 9 months.
Although I don't know about post partum. |
| isn't this gingivitis? |
|
OP here. I had a baby 4 months ago. This gum thing seems to have appeared overnight.
It's so gross. I keep flicking it with my tongue. |
| Do you grind your teeth at night? |
| Do you brush your teeth very aggressively and/or the wrong direction? My sister did and this caused her gums to recede. She had to have a surgery to graft some skin from the roof of her month to the gum area -- and she said it was excrutiatingly painful. |
| I had gum issues post-partum. Get it checked out, but remember that the hormonal stuff does make one's gums weird. |
| Definitely get it checked out so you don't end up getting cavities in the teeth where the roots are exposed. I had that happen due to brushing too hard and have had gum surgery as well. You don't want to end up going down that road, it's painful and expensive. |
|
OP, I have this issue because I brush my teeth too hard and often. I am a bit obsessive, easily a 4 times a day-er or more. Get a soft toothbrush, brush in circles, and try to go easy on your gums.
The bad news is that it is not fixable. All you can do it prevent more damage. |
