My three-year old DS has been diagnosed with SID by FCPS Child Find. His main issues are lack of concentration on tasks that don't interest him (arts, crafts, etc.) and whenever he's not understood, he starts pushing. We will be working with CF to curb his problems and also hired a private OT specialist.
We heard that kids with sensory issues sometimes need a special diet and we think it's worth a try. Has anyone tried GF diet and did it help your child with sensory problems? |

SID isn't in the DSM, and Childfind rarely if ever actually gives an actual diagnosis. They do recommend strategies/therapies where they see an educational impact. So I would really make sure you have all the facts.
Secondly, I've known several families with kids on the spectrum who swear by a GF diet. However, there's no clinical evidence to support this. It can be a bit of hassle but if you see behavioral improvements, then it would be worth the effort. |
