The Woes of Hollywood's 1% -- Pay going down.

Brad Pitt "is thought to have earned $25 mil" in 2012, but at the same time says that the days of $10 mil per movie "doesn't work now."

I love how these bleeding-heart liberal actors are falling all over Obama and other liberal politicians/causes while living in their massive sprawl homes and dressing to the nines, getting ridiculous beauty treatments, etc. I think their lifestyle is excessive BUT if they are using their own money, fine, get a super-oxygenated facial 7 days a week. I think they're massively overpaid but do what you want with your excessive pay.

You don't see them telling each other "That movie role? You didn't earn that. Someone else made that happen."

Why do liberals act like conservatives are the only ones with fat wallets? I'm so tired of it!

We don't think you are the only ones with fat wallets - not by a long shot. But you are the ones with fat wallets who seem more concerned with continuing to line your own wallets than pitching in a bit more money to solved this country's deficit problems.

And please don't spout the "50% of Americans don't pay taxes" line. It is a shallow and uneducated argument.

Since you brought it up, the onus is on you to prove that all segments of our population do indeed pay taxes. Go on. We'll wait.

By the way, 10:55, you prove the point that so often comes up: Making broad statements about one group is discriminatory and ignorant...unless that group in conservatinves, and then your type has no problem with it. Hypocrites.

Myth: Liberals are against wealth

Fact: There have always been rich liberals. Liberal icon JFK was wealthy. FDR was wealthy. Liberals have nothing against wealth.

Myth: Obama and/or liberals believe that businessmen didn't build their businesses.

Fact: Nobody lives in a vacuum. As President Obama said, businesses wouldn't succeed without government-provided infrastructure. We are all in this together and people who earn money should be proud of their achievement, but also remember the assistance they received along the way. The RNC held its "You built that" day in a publicly financed stadium.

Myth: Hollywood is nothing but liberals.

Fact:The sainted Ronald Reagan was part of "Hollywood", as was Nancy Reagan. As recently as last month, the RNC was dominated by a member of Hollywood's 1% talking to an empty chair.

Myth: DCUM conservatives are able to make convincing arguments.

Fact: The original post in this thread speaks for itself

All working segments of the population pay sales taxes, medicare taxes and SS taxes.

There is really no point in this discussion as DCUM has a heavy liberal angle, including from the moderators.

Some of us with fat wallets have not forgotten what it means to support our country. Liberal 1%ers are willing to contribute.

This is more of the conservative 1%er: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJIlCSBfksM&t=21s

That's what you call a discussion? I think you are confused. If you insult people and then they respond, you get what you deserve. If you really care, try again with a thoughtful discussion about tax fairness. I doubt you will, because you are so FOX'ed you have come to expect that your every hostile thought will receive validation by a talking head.

NP. i've been wondering just in the last couple of days why some of the super rich hollywood liberals don't donate some of their incredible wealth to the federal government. or public schools. or whatever. maybe they do, but i doubt it.

I think most of the decline can be explained by the plummeting market value of Clint Eastwood.

Couldn't agree more. Reasoned conservative posts, rare as they may be here, receive vitriolic replies--including sarcastic snarky ones from moderator. It's just not worth it; I've tried.

I read the article. I don't understand your point. He didn't complain about not getting paid less than he used to. He was making an observation about the current economics of movie making.
