I'm a bit on the clueless side when it comes to investing and don't have a lot of cash to go around however I am contributing 12% of my salary to my employer matched 401k program. I selected a few funds and left it alone years ago, haven't changed anything as far as investments other than my contribution amount auto increases annually.
I am pleased to say that it is up 13.6% since the beginning of this year. In past years, it has had an increase as much as 20% but of course it went back down. What pleases me even more is that 77% of the assets are domestic. While I can't use this to predict the recovery of anything in this country, I can't help but see this in a positive light. Not only is my money making money, but it's doing so domestically! I'm young-ish and can afford a bit of risk so I'm going to let it ride. I would appreciate if you wouldn't rain on my parade, but I know this is DCUM, just be nice. Although, if you would like to provide some investing insight, feel free to do so. I'm just happy that it's doing well. It's also outperforming DH's 401k, which amuses me. Everything is a contest with him. |
