Hi everyone,
hope someone can help me. We are a family moving from Denmark to Bethesda in January, and to help take care of our kids after daycare, we are bringing my 19 year old cousin. Since he has no duties in the evening, I know he would love to find some kind af activity/sport, where he can meet other people of his own age. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance, Stine |

Many 19 year olds are in university/college, OP, or working. There are not a lot of structured activities specifically for this age group.
Does he participate in a particular sport? What are his hobbies? What are his interests? Will he have access to a car? Be aware that the drinking age here is 21. |
| Try Meet-Ups. There are actually a lot of adult recreation and sport activities. It wouldn't be all people exactly his age but there are sport and social clubs where most of those participating are around his age. |

I second the rec and sport activities. There are tons of formal leagues, and many informal ones as well (kick ball comes to mind).

Since you are moving to Bethesda, take a look at the Montgomery County Recreation Dept. offerings. http://www6.montgomerycountymd.gov/rectmpl.asp?url=/content/rec/thingstodo/sports/index.asp They list the adult sports leagues, and provide links to indoor pools. Rockville City has an indoor pool, but it's on a separate web site. However, getting a part-time job somewhere that caters to young adults might be the easiest way to meet others. Starbucks, a book store, etc. |
Most of these leagues require participants to be 21, and most informal rec activities for young adults are centered around drinking anyways. |
