As a Democrat, I'm so sick of the emotional Democrats

The whimpering admiration of every speaker at the convention makes me want to vomit. Clinton, Michelle - fine, good speeches. But can we focus on policy instead of "sobbing on our couches" over how INSPIRED we are? I support Obama, but I think this simpering over him and his supporters is frustrating and out of place. It's a Presidential election, not a Barbie tea party. So tired of it. Let's get real and discuss the issues, not fall all over ourselves like schoolgirls.

I'm fine with showing some emotions, rather than the often stoic look of others. I also don't think the real issues are lost as a result of people feeling strongly about their party and its issues.

See, I have always viewed a convention as a rally meant to get people excited. Debates are supposed to cover the issues.

An as far a Dems being emotional - I think that is a great thing. People are so cynical about politics and the country's future - it is nice to see people get excited and hopeful again.

Yeah, the sobbing on my couch poster irritated me too. (Especially because the speech was good - not great, but good - and certainly not worthy of tears. Get a grip, lady.) That said, this is a big rally, to get people fired up, not the place for detailed, specific policy discussion. Hopefully that'll come again after this nonsense is over. (Or, in the case of Republicans, it'll come for the first time - but I have my doubts.)

This. There's often not much substance to convention speeches. I was thrilled to actually see some this time. However, I do get heartened by the positive and inclusive message most Dem speakers had.

I agree but it is hard for both sides to discuss the issues when your record reflects an abysmal failure.

Yeah, it's irritating and over-the-top. And personally if Obama were my candidate (which he's not) I'd be sobbing on the couch for a different reason.
