OK, I'm calling it an Obama victory in 2012. It seems likely the House will remain in Republican control. The Senate is too close to call, but let's assume it tips Dem, because of Obama's coattails in November.
What will the big priorities be for Obama's second term? He's already tackled some big ones in his first term. What happens in term #2? |

work on education, infrastructure, taxes (in terms of simplifying the system), debt
i didnt mention jobs cause im figuring the GOP is going to bitch about that again and act as if voters said that they want to go with obama's plan/idea and not have chaos again. |

| The real priorities. I did some research since my original post, and according to several political writers, the most likely target seems to be immigration reform. A few suggested reforms to taxes and Medicare as big ticket items the Obama team would like to attack, but they said Republicans in control of the House would likely refuse to participate in any meaningful discussions on those subjects, because they'd instead hope to delay those items until after 2016. But immigration reform has real potential, because once Obama wins again, Republican leadership will want to do something to woo the Latino vote for 2016. |

I was skeptical about your post at first. But to be honest, Obama should go for it, if for no other reason than because Republicans won't be able to fight him at that time. If they can't beat a Democrat in an economy like this, they are permanently screwed unless they find a way to win back Hispanics and other recent immigrant populations. The party knows it, and a loss now should force them to make peace with immigrants. They need to stop portraying them as freeloaders and recognize that immigrants are risk takers who are responsible for our country's success. They are young workers who support our retirees and create demand for our stagnant post-bubble housing market. They are the students who want the science and engineering degrees that our kids don't feel like pursuing. They are the workers doing the jobs that US citizens don't seem to want. In short, they are both a historical and contemporary boost to America. |

1. taxes will go back to clinton days
2. more drone hits 3. troops to syria 4. air assets to support israel bombing iran 5. weed being rescheduled or letting states legalize (hopefully he does a 180 on weed because he wont have to care about re-election). 6. Comprehensive immigration which includes amnesty/guest-worker program (it won't work when the economy is good again in 10 years...political borders drawn on a map does not stop the human historical need to migrate). |
