How many people here have 4+ animals?

Anonymous
Just wondering. If so, how many and what kind? I'm starting to get to the point where I don't want to tell people how many I have for fear of judgment but we have the money for care, have a big house and the time (and yes I have kids). What number puts you into hoarding territory? FWIW I'm not actively acquiring but I can't turn my back when a sick or homeless animal shows up.

Do kids and hubby count?

Two cats, two dogs, two kids. It works well for us and it's not crazy in our house at all. LOTS of sweeping and mopping required, though, to keep up with the dander.

5 goldfish. But that's probably not what you are thinking about.

OP, as long as you keep up with them and they are contained, who cares? I happen to find that those who do not like animals are not much better with people. I also find that yes, there are those looking to find fault with anything. If they can comment on you having animals and something negative about it, it clearly reflects mostly on them (not you). Who cares?

I have a friend that has a few dogs, and other animals. Honestly, as long as someone does not have a cat, and the house is reasonably kept up, I can't tell they have animals. For some reason, I am sensitive to cat smells in particular. But anything else, unless its not kept up, I don't even notice.

Not now but growing up we had....
3 foxes
1 skunk (fixed)
raised multiple Lovebirds
parakeets
hamsters
1 cacomistle (it's a mix between a fox and a ferret. Indiginous to the Southwest)
1 rabbit
4 dogs
3 cats

I know there were some others but I can't remember. We had a menagerie at all times.

We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. However, the cats are 15 & 17 years old, and once they die, they will not be replaced. I love having 2 dogs, though.

2 cats, 2 dogs, 1 goldfish in Chevy Chase DC.

I spend far too much time vacuuming, cleaning litter, picking up poop, combing out matted fur, and meal times. Because naturally everyone is on a different special diet from the others.

2 cats, 2 dogs. We also will not be replacing the cats when they die.

@ 21:42, a skunk, seriously? My grandfather actually rescued four (cubs?) as a kid in NE and had great stories about them. How did you end up with a skunk? I'm guess not saving them from a combine...And a ringtail cat? I've never heard the other name for them. Despite growing up in the high Sonoran Desert I've never actually seen one in the wild. Everything else but not that.

We have 1 dog and anywhere between 6 - 15 fish in an outdoor pond depending on eggs hatching/herons eating them. Growing up we had pigs, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, and then whatever we could catch: tarantulas, snakes, horny toads, tortoises, chuckawallas, etc. I really wish I could bring up my kids in that environment; it was awesome.
