before/aftercare for Silver Spring area elementaries?

We're thinking about moving to Silver Spring, and were wondering if elementary schools offer before and aftercare. If so, information on cost and hours would be appreciated. Thanks!

It varies by school, and they are run by outside vendors. Some have Kids After Hours, others have Kids Adventures, Bar T. I think the YMCA still has some schools as well. You would have to find out which school the child would attend, and then contact that company for cost. We have friends who use all three I mentioned, and the cost is in the range of $450-500 per month for M-F am and pm.

Yes, it depends on the school.

The YMCA provides before/aftercare, and Woodside Childcare Center provides aftercare - some schools have a bus stop there on the routes home. We loved Woodside.

Thanks so much for the replies. Any idea roughly what the hours are? I looked on the Woodside website, but didn't see their hours listed.

Also - Takoma Park Child Development Center offers before and after care at their facility but there is school bus service to and from East Silver Spring Elementary.

My kids school has Kids After Hours. I think they open at 7:00 am, and close in the evening at 6:30. They are open on most of the random school closing days too, but not days like Presidents Day or MLK day. also they have a winter break and spring break "camp" that is included in the tuition.

Silver Spring is huge.

Our DD goes to Woodlin Elementary in 20910. RDCA has a daycare site right on the campus. Our DD goes before and after for $135 a week, hours are 7-8:30 or so then 3:05 to 6:30. We also get a 10% discount because our 2 year old is at the center, too. He is $237 a week for 7AM-6:30PM.

Boy's & girl’s club is a very good before/after school care. It is non-profit organization. The charge for aftercare is only $95/month with 7:30pm pick up time. The staff there are full time employee and college graduates. They run much better program than most of private aftercare. However, they are closed this fall semester for facility renovation but will reopen at the beginning of next year

It's great if your school has one on site, though the quality varies.
