Um, no. Assuming these are NYC people, you definitely want something more current and stylish than that. I like the DVF dress posted above. You can also probably find something good at Cusp or Co-op.

Agree with pp... Lilly is more rehoboth, less hamptons. I would stick with dresses by Diane Von f or malandrino.

OP- thanks for the recs. No way I'm wearing Lily (it's fine for my little girls but I can't stand it). I like Malandrino- too bad no time to hit NYC before the event. I guess I'll stay safe and stick with a DVF wrap dress.
