Was expecting my paycheck to hit yesterday

yes, we got an email last week that due to isaac the NFC, in Louisiana, would be able to cut the checks until Tuesday.

As opposed to a place like DC that could have terrorist attacks, or California where they have earthquakes or Hawaii where they have volcanos?

How many times has a natural disaster interrupted getting paid in your career? Serious question.

Government agencies are all over the country.

My question is why they don't have a COOP plan that automatically transfers the information somewhere else so they can meet their obligations. I'm also somewhat troubled that my agency (DOJ) neglected to notify us. I found out when DH, who works for a different agency, told me.

I had to go online and change all of the payments I had schooled for Tuesday.

so not only do govt employess get pay freezes, need to pay a fee to get reimbursed for local travel expenses, but hey if pay checks are delayed - it is fine.

We got the email notification as well. I'm a contractor so only sort of paid attention, but my impression from the email was that they wouldn't go out until Tues, but that that was the required deadline in general (I.e. it gave the impression that the normal turn around time actually has paychecks going out earlier than they are required to.)

My husband and I both work for DOJ as well, and we were told not to expect a check before Thursday. Sounds like some components were better about keeping their employees informed than others.

Thanks, this is helpful information.

I assumed it was just one of the glitches where sometimes the deposit does not show up until the next business day (in this case Tuesday). I will reschedule some payments that are supposed to go out on Tuesday.

Actually, the NFC has skipped quiet often. More than Any other time in my 15 yr career with the fed.
They actually put it their after Katrina (our payroll) and while stimulating the area was a good idea...placing my salary below sea level not so good. Aside from 3 mile meltdown PA would've been a better choice, same for WV , probably TN, etc...

Not the OP, but thank you for this information. We didn't hear anything from our agency, and I was expecting the money to come through on Monday. I'll definitely have to change some pending payments.
