Must I buy colored jeans?

Ugh, for some reason I just can't get on board with the whole tread. But if I don't, will my standard jeans just look too dated amongst the sea of jewel toned ones?

My mom likes them, so I'm thinking there's no way I want to get a pair. I did see a bronze pair in a magazine that I liked, but the bright ones would not be flattering on my butt.
