Who has a good selection of baby books?

Not looking to document my son's every move (obviously, as he's 15 months old, and I'm just getting around to this ), but want to jot down "firsts" and some notes every few months. Thankfully, I had a calendar for the first year with stickers, so I've got firsts to transfer. I don't want a cheesy Hallmark-y book, nor one that gives me a page every day to opine (who has time?) . I'd like a relatively free-form book that goes up to age 5 or so.

I'd love to browse them in person, but if anyone has a specific book to recommend, even if only online, suggestions are welcome.

Since you haven't gotten any replies, I thought I'd suggest something here. I am terrible with baby books so a friend suggested this to me and it worked really well. I have a blog through blogspot.com where you can document all sorts of things and post pictures to go with it. It kills two birds with one stone since you can use it as a photo album with lots of captions and descriptions but you can also quickly add in things you want to remember. For instance, along the left side of my blog I have my kids' "stats" (weight, height and so on) from every doctor's visit. I also have a section called "The Funny things she says..." so i can remember the hilarious things that come out of her mouth.
This is probably not what you were looking for but it's an alternative to the baby book to consider.

I just saw a fun display of personalized books on Shutterfly.com that you can personalise yourself using your baby photos - that would seem to me to be more fun and personal than a blog.

OP here. PP, thanks for responding and for the blog suggestion. Anyplace you can document things is great; I'm sure we'll all forget the things we thought were so memorable at the time. We do actually have a blog, but my husband is very skittish about putting any kind of personal information about us or our son on the web, so it's minimal. Thanks also for the Shutterfly suggestion, other PP.

I think I was unclear in my subject line, which may be part of the problem--or maybe no one has a good source. I'm looking for suggestions for stores that have a good selection of baby books. Baby stores, bookstores, etc.

Anyone??? Or do people just not do baby books anymore? I enjoy looking at my own, though I'm the youngest of three so it's not nearly as detailed as my older brothers' books Just think it will be fun for our son years from now.

Perhaps I should just get a blank journal and create my own, but a little structure would be helpful.

(OP here) Wow, 17:03 poster, that is beautiful but as you say, very expensive. I don't think I'd do it justice. Wonder what "first short clothes" are? I suppose non-gowns for the original book--maybe non-onesies now?

16:23, Thanks for the baby bumble suggestion--from the Amazon reviews, it looks like just what I'm looking for.

We write in a journal. Picked a nice one out at a bookstore and write in it whenever we feel or if our daughter has done something developmentally important.

www.howfasttheygrow.com. You can make your own baby book pages or just buy the album & put in whatever you want. I never found a baby book I liked in a bookstore or children's store.

i had a vintage, unused copy of "our baby's first seven years" for the first baby and I liked all the info it took in. I got a newer version for #2, and then for the next one I found a couple nice options at stores in upper georgetown - i do not know the names, but they were stationary/paper stores on wisconsin above q street, and on o street (near yiro). Also at the stationary store in chevy chase dc called "just write for you" on mckinley street. i did the calenders for each of the kids too so I could fill in and made sure to get the info down as it happened.
