This is typical for this center school. High enrollment and all AAP kids get to choose between SACC at Haycock or SACC at the base school(which they would get bused back to after school) I would guess most would choose to stay put at the center school. They ofcourse go through the same waitlist as in boundary(base) kids. Higher number of families in need of care=long waitlists.

I also got on the waitlist in 2010 at Haycock and am still on it.

It is crazy how FCPS handles SACC, and every other county in the area does it differently (and better) MCPS, Arlington, and Loudon all have it together.

Agreed! Same problem at Churchill Road

No waitlist at our school. Must be mostly SAHMs in the neighborhood.

SACC doesn't enforce its policy stating partial week use is not permitted. There are families at Haycock SACC that use it for regular partial week schedules 3 or 4 days so that doesn't help clearing the wait list backlog for the families that need it on a full time basis.

How early can you get on the waitlist for this?

If I know my child will be starting at a given school in fall of '13, can I put his name on the list now (before we're officially enrolled at the school)?

Yes, you should have signed up in July if you were planning on sending your child the following year Call the SACC office and get on the waitlist as soon as you can. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/ofc/sacc.htm#Enr

You can actually sign up for two schools and give one as a preference. You might want to do this if you know the school will bus to more than one (AAP centers usually) and there is a long waitlist at your preferred school.

The enrollment period started in July '12 for Fall '13 start dates. I would call ASAP, as you're already behind those that called as soon as it opened.

Just a clarification... SACC is run thru Fairfax County govt., not FCPS. SACC is located in the schools, but not run by the school system.

A few tips: if you are on the wait list and can get into am, but not pm, do it. It will help your movement. Also, call them about once a month to ask your standing. It also shows your eagerness. I once had a very helpful call with a manager there and the waitlist process is actually a bit complex.
