Costa Rica Advice?

Hi - we're headed to Tamarindo this winter and I was wondering if anyone had an advice about what to bring. Especially regarding how much/what type of cash to take, cell phone usage vs. calling card and any general experiences!

Don't bother with travelers checks. There are ATM's in Tamarindo, so don't bother taking too much cash at once. Also, credit cards are accepted at most places. I switched my cell plan to international plan for the days I was there...I dont have much experience using calling cards. Have fun!!
