A different kind of college rankings. Particularly interesting - top 20 of USN&WR rankings are private institutions. This set of rankings from Washington Monthly includes 13 public institutions in the top 20

Aw, this is cute. I still think Harvard is going to get you better career opportunities than UC San Diego, but hey, I applaud someone trying to break the lock of US News. |
This ranking is hilarious. It ranked my daughter's safety schools, the schools where she was offered tons of unsolicited merit aid, way above the school she attends. Tugaloo? In the top 10? Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha |
Sorry that should have been Tugaloo in the top 20. I was laughing so hard I pressed the wrong key. |
Did you guys read what they were ranking? It was pretty up front that it's not a ranking based on academics or career opportunities.

Thanks for the link OP, this is actually really interesting. So much of the hype surrounding college admissions is about the 1% of kids who are stellar in every way and want to go to similarly prestigious (and expensive as hell) schools. That's not for everyone. College rankings for the rest of us. |
