Infant day care in Bethesda/Chevy Chase area

Anonymous
I am new to this site and to motherhood . I am still expecting (~3.5 months) but have been told to QUICKLY put myself onto any waitlists if I know I will be needing care.

I wanted to know if any moms and dads out there can recommend high quality infant daycare centers in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area and if not too much to ask, what the approximate waiting period is (is it true that some places are waitlisted over a year??) I am overwhelmed and need a starting point for good, reputable centers to visit.

Thank you so much!

Wonders Edgemoor, Children in the Shoe come to mind. No idea what the waitlist is-- it's been a few years.

good luck!

Children in the Shoe East-West Towers is wonderful. We are in our last week there since my youngest is going to kindergarten, but we have had at least one kid there since 2004. Waitlist will be at long, but not sure how long. Will try to remember to ask today.

Family Academy of Bethesda is Great.
They are on East West Highway, Bethesda.
Infant room teachers long standing , more than 10 years, nuturing/caring ,we love it there.
Take a tour and ask for references.

My son is in Children in the shoe, and him and I both love it. Perhaps it also depends a lot on each center and not as a whole. As well as the childs age. (my son will be 4 in Aug)

He's been in the center since his 3rd birthday, and although he has moved up to the next class, all the teachers are still the same, and he loves them all.

We had a bad experience at the last day care - probably why I love CIS so much, it was the first time my son went to day care without crying EVERY DAY (and the last day care he was there from 18 months - 3 years

I love their office staff at (CIS), they have been there forever which shows that they love their job and know the ins and outs of the childcare process.

This is typical of an entity advertising its own business. We need true and honest reviews of daycare centers in our area. Not advertisements.

Quote to live by " Do not ask your barber if you need a haircut". This is what the above is, basically.

I agree that FAB seems to have been posting about itself in the past, but this one seems rather benign? With the exception fo the word "great" it is all factual and not over the top. Relax.

Congratulations! Hope your pregnancy is going smoothly If you are interested in an in-home option, my provider has space for an infant open. She is wonderful. Loving, caring, and puts your baby first. My son is 8 months old. At first, we were going to try for one of the centers--but then discovered our next door neighbor ran a small in home day care (had one little boy at the time). Talked to her, she said she was interested -- talked to her references including the mother of the little boy she was taking care of. Glowing reviews for her. Son has been there since April and we are so glad we went the way we did (not a big center). Since then, the other little boy has left (he was 2.5 and parents wanted him in an environment with numerous other children his age). She also took care of their older son, who is now 7. Let me know if you would like her phone number. Email me at barrett_maggie@yahoo.com.

New poster - the "take a tour and ask for references" is on all of FAB's self-postings. Perhaps they'll mix it up a bit now...ha
