This may be old news, but I clicked on CNN website today on a story about DC test scores and Michele Rhee. Apparently, only 12% of 8th graders scored "proficient" in reading on some national test and only 8% scored "proficient" in math. This is extremely distressing. Does anyone know whether there is a significant difference between charter schools and non-charter schools? Where would one go to investigate this more thoroughly? |
I couldn't find any other references to the story other than the single line on CNN, but would imagine that it has a lot to do with the fact that most parents with means pull their kids out of public schools at around 5th grade.
