Haycock teacher assignments

Anonymous
Does anybody know when the Haycock teacher assignments come out? I had been told by the office it would not be until Friday (the day after the open house), but also heard that in years past it was the day before the open house (which would make a lot more sense). I've got a rising K, and think it would be really helpful to know who his teacher is at/before open house. And what about bus assignments? I have seen nothing, although heard in years past there was a letter?

Siren sounds: helicopter parent : warning helicopter parent:

OP Why does it matter? It's not like there is any preparation depending on the teacher assigned is there?

IT would have to be before the open house--the point of the open house is for the dc to meet their teachers. Why not call the office and ask?

FWIW, we are at a different FCPS elementary school and received a mailing last week with a bus route chart.

It matters only because I think it would be a whole lot easier to be able to show my kid his room and let him meet his teacher at the open house instead of having him check out 3 rooms and meet 3 teachers and tell him that we can find out which is his later. But if that makes me a helicopter, so be it. I may just call the school, but thought virtually asking around wasn't such a bad idea - from prior threads I know there are lots of Haycock parents on here!

We are at a different school and the office said the bus route schedule is being mailed today. I am guessing it just came out sometime last week.

The class lists will be posted this Wednesday on the website and on the school's doors (this is what Haycock staff said during the last PTA-organized K playdate).

PP here again. Also heard at the playdate that the school has petitioned FCPS for an additional (5th) K class due to class sizes being 28 with four classes. If anyone is aware of how this was resolved, please post.

I heard they got 2 more teachers assigned to the school but don't know if the principal will assign them to K. anyone else know?

OP here - thanks, very useful information. I can't believe they are at the max at 4 classes! I knew we shouldn't have missed that playdate....

We were also told this as well at the last Kindergarten play date last Thursday. They are waiting until the last possible minute to assign teachers as they are still getting new students that are registering. Makes total sense to me to wait to assign teachers until they have the all kids registered. This means getting additional teachers if a certain number register for any given grade. This Thursday is when all students get to meet their teacher so of course the lists will be available by then. We have been very pleased with the school this summer given everything they have done to welcome new families. The New family picnic, the kindergarten play dates, the staff and PTA members that have been there to answer questions and welcome all have been wonderful. I've even called the office a bunch of times this summer with questions and everyone has been very nice and helpful. We are also excited that we have already met many families that seem to be just like our own family. I'm now excited for my kid to start at Haycock!!!!

Playdate PP here. Another bit of info from the playdate - they said we could bring the school supplies to the open house.

The email today says they grew 100 kids since last year.

It also said to bring your school supplies to open house, so presumably, you'll know the teacher by then.

We are not at Haycock but our school started last year with 4 large K classes (27-28 dc each) and by the end of the year there were over 30 dc in each K class. I was really surprised b/c I thought they were not allowed to go over 28 in K. Hope you all get your extra K teacher--28 is ridiculous and 30 was outrageous.

My wife's school had 31 in each kinder class last year.

The fact that there was a mini baby boom in the 2006-2008 years probably has something(but not all) to do with such large classes.
