What are your experiences with non-contract smartphones/android phones?

How much do you pay per month? I want to get an android phone but don't want to lock into a 2 yr contract. Will probably use it for the basics.....a few apps, checking e-mail and taking pictures.

Mine is fine. I have a Virgin Mobile, LG touch. I paid around $100 I think. I just looked at Best Buy and it looks like it's been replaced by something that costs $99.99.

My phone is fine, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of an iphone but it gets the job done -- google, internet access, gmail, gps. That's what I use the most. I pay for the most expensive plan -- unlimited everything, I pay $90 a month. My kid has the same phone with unlimited data and texting and 1500 minutes and he pays less. I've been with Virgin Mobile for years, and had this phone for about 9 months, and have always been happy.

I'm very happy with my phone, and have desire to be locked into a contract or pay overage fees, or spend 2 years paying off a flashy phone I got for "free".

I brought my phone from Europe, and I am on a $60 prepaid plan from t mobile. Unlimited texts and minutes and enough data traffic to use Skype, check emails and browse Internet occasionally. I have an android smartphone.

I have a nice smartphone (android) from Virgin Mobile and am on the $35 month plan. Only 300 voice minutes, but unlimited texts and data. I've been happy with it.

I've had Boost for years and love it. With their shrinkage deal I'm down to $40/month for unlimited talk/text/web... I'm not sure if they throttle after a certain point and don't really care enough to look since I don't surf the web munch on my phone. Mostly I just check email occasionally or look up the odd phone number/address for a business while I'm out and about.

Like Virgin, they run on Sprint's network and get some of the older Sprint handsets. I've got a Transform Ultra, because I'm a dinosaur who wanted a physical keyboard. It's also pretty sturdy. I've lost count of the times I've dropped it and it's still going strong.

My daughter has a Virgin Mobile phone with unlimited talk, texting and web. I pay $42.10/month, with tax. What plan are you on that costs so much?
