Yikes, and that's a Rasmussen poll, too.

OTOH he apparently has thousands of supporters, demonstrating both his financial ability to stay in the race as well as the popularity of his stone aged opinions:

Many of the supporters are like my mom who lives in St. Louis. She called in to voice her support - but she's actually a democrat and wants him to remain in the race so the dem incumbent can win, so she and a bunch of her friends called and written his office.

Some people thought PPP, which is often viewed as liberal-leaning, fudged its poll to make Akin look like he was doing better than he was so that he would stay in the race. Since Rasmussen is generally viewed as conservative-leaaning, maybe it fudged its numbers to make it look like Akin was doing worse since the Republicans want him to drop out?

Jeff, if you want to be a good conspiracy theorist, you'll have to dig deeper. The bar is pretty high these days. If you want to get attention, you are up against a guy who just said the UN is going to invade America. I'll give you a start: Rasmussen is controlled by a secret board of conservative businessmen that gathers weekly in Switzerland (while they are checking on their offshore accounts of course) to determine the headlines across an array of right leaning media outlets... Rasmussen is just the tip of the iceberg. It goes much, much deeper than you ever imagined.

Claire McCaskill has the same theory that I suggested:

"Rasmussen poll made me laugh out loud. If anyone believes that, I just turned 29. Sneaky stuff. http://bit.ly/SscVZf "

Is the cruise they mentioned by chance on the private super-yacht of a Russian oil tycoon? If so, now you have my attention.
