Has anyone had any luck with downtown DC doctors in smaller practices that accept insurance? I fell in love with Sanders' and Schaffel's practice when I went to meet them, but only learned at the end that they don't accept insurance. I'm looking for something with a similar level of attention to patients and, obviously, quality of care -- without the factory feel of the really large practices. I'd prefer to deliver at Sibley, but am open to GW.
I've dug through this board, but can only seem to find recommendations for Reiter and Hill, GW MFA and Capital Women's Care. If anyone knows of anything I may have overlooked, I'd be grateful for the suggestion. |
I went through this process recently too, after deciding to leave a big practice. I switched to a solo practitioner, Dr. Russell Bridges, who I am very happy with. THe other person I was considering was Dr. Virginia Thompson, but she had a long wait to get in so I went with Dr. BRidges. Good luck! |
i switched from a large practice to Dr. Bridges' small practice and I LOVE HIM!!! he is very attentive and has a very easygoing kind of style. |
I've recently started seeing Dr. Bridges as well and really do like him. I definitely prefer getting to know one doctor, rather than being rotated throughout a bigger practice. There's a bunch of posts on here about the office staff being problematic - he actually brought that up on his own at my first "meet & greet" appointment and wanted to make very clear that the person in question no longer worked there. The staff has been incredibly kind and helpful so far, especially through a spotting scare a couple of weeks ago (am only 8 weeks and was terrified).
I did not love Reiter & Hill (Dr. Abraham in particular), but a friend has gone there for years and loves them. |
OP here - THANK YOU for the quick and helpful replies! I really appreciate it - I would not have found Dr. Bridges otherwise, and just made my first appointment. Thank you. |
I just had my first appt with Dr. Bridges today (9weeks). He spend 1 1/2 hours with me and hubby. I had a referral to him and he was booked so he came in before his practice opened to meet with me. He was very thorough and I am very excited to have him as a doctor. |
Where does Dr. Bridges deliver? |
Sibley only |
I really like Dr. Richard Footer. I found his name through this website and I'm very pleased with him! He has an office in DC and Bethesda. You talk to a real person everytime you call (no machines), and he is very easygoing and helpful. |
Dr. Bridges delivered both of my babies. He's the bomb. |
I'm also a patient of Dr. Footer's, along with a few of my girlfriends. We're all fans - the practice is just him and his assistant. I went through a miscarraige and between that and this pregnancy, I've found him to be so responsive. I've never waited more than three minutes for a return of my pages.
He delivers at Holy Cross. |
